Meet Kristen, owner and creator of MaddyBugCo
MaddyBugCo was inspired by my grandma’s love for creating jewelry. I wanted to keep her love alive through my creations. Each piece is handmade + beads are carefully selected from other small shops.
What made you start your business?
I was a new mama of two in the middle of Covid. Working full time from home taking care of two kiddos and a home. I lost a part of myself. Making jewelry has always been something I enjoyed doing. My grandma taught me everything I know so it makes me feel closer to her. Doing something that made me happy during a pandemic brought me joy again and made me find a part of myself that I missed so much.
What has been your biggest struggle related to your business?
Believing that I’m worthy enough to have a small business + that people enjoy
my jewelry.
What has been your biggest business related accomplishment so far?
Getting myself out there! Doing in person events. I’m not a people person so this
was a big step for me.
How do you handle competition in your field/market?
Comparing myself and my designs to others has been a huge struggle of mine
that I’m working really hard to overcome. Knowing that what I create is from my head + my heart only helps. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. I know my bracelets will attract the right audience.
What is your favorite product you make/sell?
Bracelets, hands down. I can be so creative while making them. I love being able to chose different beads + seeing how they come together. It’s also a great stress reliever. Being able to get the mess that’s in my head out by creating something beautiful is so awesome!
